How to Do a Mid-Year Goal Check In & Identify Limiting Beliefs
Jul 04, 2024
It's that time of year, the ½ way point of 2024 and I am willing to bet you are not sitting where you want with your goals. How do I know this?
Because most of us don't spend enough time creating quality goals and action plans that will actually propel us forward. Vague goals hold people back from achieving what they are truly capable of.
Most of the goals I see are vague, lack clarity and focus. They usually sound something like this:
-
Self Care, busy right now and need work-life balance.
-
Health/wellness, time management.
-
Save to buy a house.
Do any of these sound familiar?
If this sounds like you don't worry because there is no time like the present to review your current goals and do a reset. I call this the Review & Reset!
If you don't feel confident about the goals you've set, what can you do about it?
First, acknowledge that your goals need work and then commit to sitting down and focusing on the review & reset. Second, ask yourself a series of questions:
- Have you set the right goals?
- Do your goals align with where you want to be in 5 years?
- Where are you afraid to take action?
- What limiting beliefs are holding you back?
- What type of fear is holding you back from action?
- Loss?
- Change?
- Outcome?
- What did the goal review reveal to you?
- What do you need to do to reset your goals for the rest of 2024?
Third: Another factor that plays a big role in goal setting is limiting beliefs. You most likely having limiting beliefs holding you back from your current goals and holding you back from taking some type of action. Limiting beliefs also play a role in how we goal set. We tend to set goals that aren't too far out there, meaning we believe to a high degree that we can actually achieve the. Setting really big goals goes outside your comfort zone
Take the quiz to find out what limiting beliefs are holding you back. I find that usually what is holding us back is fear. Fears revolve around 3 things: Loss, Change, & Outcome.
What limiting beliefs are holding you back?

What holds me back most of the time is fear of outcome, meaning if I take actions I am afraid of negative consequences. Simply sending an email can cause crippling anxiety, can you relate? Nope, just me? Okay moving on.
Fourth, take steps to work on those limiting beliefs and fears. That may include journaling daily or hiring a coach, but whatever it is take steps forward.
Setting the right goals will also be the most crucial step, making sure they are clear and get you closer to where you want to be in the future. Take the time to make your goals specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time bound. The time investment up front is always worth it in the end when you can say you achieved what you set out to!
